Every cent of a $16.56 average sale, down to the little over a third that is left — after Amazon takes more than twice what the box and its packets cost.
Amazon’s two cuts are the largest part of the stack. Grocery’s referral fee is 15% on a sale above $15.00 and 8% at or below it, and the box sells at $15.95 — 95 cents over the line. FBA charges $3.54 to pick, pack and ship a box of five whatever it sells for. Together they take 37% of the sale.

These price the category, not Kajun: Chinese OEM quotes for similar sachets, published on Alibaba. Where Kajun’s packets are actually filled is not known, and a US co-packer would cost more. The box-and-freight line is our placeholder; nobody quoted it.
The shape is the reverse of most physical products. What is inside the box is the smallest real cost, and the largest is getting it to the customer through Amazon — which charges by the box, not by the price, and takes its referral cut at the higher of Grocery’s two rates.
Two lines here are ours, not theirs: $0.75 a box for the carton and freight, and the 30% of units taken as ad-attributed. Across the ranges the dossier tested, they are the difference between keeping under a third of a sale and over two fifths — and both are the first things to replace with real numbers.
